Lin Yuemei of the People’s Republic China won her third medal of the season out of three World Cup stages in Gabala (AZE).
After pocketing one Gold and one Bronze in the women’s 10m Air Pistol event during the first two World Cup stages of the season, the 23-year-old ruled the women’s 25m Pistol final in Gabala (AZE), finishing with 36 hits and the brightest medal around her neck.
Lin, who entered the final with the highest qualification score, held the lead from the very start, as she nailed a perfect 5-hits in her first series. A lead she then maintained all along the match, shooting consistently and defending herself from the comeback of Republic of Korea’s Kim Minjung.
The Korean 20-year-old, who qualified for the top-8 for the second time in her career, bested the 7th place she nailed in Munich (GER) last month, securing the Silver medal with 34 hits.
The third step of the podium belonged to the current number 2 of the World Ranking, Zhang Jingjing (28) of the People’s Republic of China, who scored 27 hits and won her 15th World Cup medal in this event only.
Zhang was followed by Austria’s first-time finalist Sylvia Steiner (35), who finished in 4th place with 23 hits, and by Russian Federation’s Vitalina Batsarashkina (20), 5th with 17. 37-year-old Meng Qin, the third Chinese shooter who qualified for the final, left the match after the sixth series, crowning her international debut with a final participation and sealing the 6th place with 12 hits.
Poland’s 22-year-old Klaudia Bres, also a first-time finalist, placed 7th position with 10 hits, followed by Kazakhstan’s Zauresh Baibussinova (46) in 8th place with 8.
