Georgia concluded two days of junior competition with four medals, at the ISSF Grand Prix in Ruse, Slovenia.
Six events were scheduled for the opening event of the 2025 calendar, which is to be followed by two days of senior competition tomorrow and Sunday (12 January).
It was a strong start for Georgia, who won two gold medals - both in pistol.
Salome Prodiashvili was the star for them, as she was victorious in the women's 10m air pistol final. In qualification, she finished third as her teammate Mariam Abramishvili finished with the top score.
However, Podriashvili would finish top in the final, leading from the start after a close contest with Anna Dulce from Moldova. The Georgian ended on a total of 235.4 to Dulce's 232.4. Abramishvili would leave with the bronze medal.
It did not end there - Podriashvili, along with Giorgi Mumladze, defeated Moldova's Dulce and Climentii Ursu in the mixed team 10m air pistol gold medal match by a 17-13 margin, coming from four down to take victory.
Bronze went to Nada Martinovic and Marko Ninkovic from Serbia, who comfortably defeated Anna Cukusic and Rino Staba of neighbouring Croatia 17-5.
Mumladze was also successful individually, narrowly missing the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol final. A close contest with Luca Joldea from Romania saw the pair tied going into the final two shots, where Joldea pulled away by one full point for victory. Juraj Elko from Slovakia won the bronze.
Hosts Slovenia won their first gold of the event in the men's 10m air rifle final, thanks to the efforts of Maksimilijan Zaric. He was involved in a close three-way battle for the title alongside Serbian Aleksa Rakonjac and Johannes Kuen from Austria, with just 0.3 of a point separating them going into the elimination for bronze.
Kuen and Rakonjac would be tied and the Serbian won the shoot-off, with Zaric just 0.1 ahead into the last two shots. Two quality shots gave the Slovenian the gold with a score of 248.9, compared to Rakonjac's 248.5.
A much more decisive victory went the way of Anamarija Turk from Croatia in the women's 10m air rifle final, who finished with a score of 250.6 to Hana Strakusek of Slovenia's 248.4. Austria's Mia Grosch claimed the bronze medal.
Finally, the mixed team air rifle title went to Turk and her teammate Darko Tomasevic in a last-shot-takes-all decider, beating Johannes Kuen and Zoe Zass of Austria 16-14. Nika Skubic and Maksimilijan Zaric made it another podium for Slovenia, winning the bronze medal match 17-7 against Inna Sidenko and Patrick Entner from Austria.
