ISSF receive new updates at 2025 WADA Symposium

The International Shooting Sport Federation attended the 2025 WADA Symposium, receiving the latest news heading into the World Anti-Doping Agency's 2025-2029 Strategic Plan.

Chairman of the ISSF Athletes Committee, Cassio Rippel, Chairman of the ISSF Medical Committee Dr James Lally and ISSF Senior Legal Advisor Christian Keidel represented the ISSF at the event in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Some of the topics covered included how to manage whistleblowers in anti-doping, how partnerships can improve clean sport and recognising the key achievements and innovations in anti-doping research.

Knowledge sharing and ethical data governance was discussed as ways to improve the processes too, as preparations continue towards the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code.

Cassio Rippel said: "The clean sport environment is the right of all athletes, we train and commit our lives to shooting sport, and we deserve to be able to compete in a field of play free of doping.

"Here, in the Symposium, is a great opportunity to be in contact with our friends from the WADA’s Athletes Council.

"The new WADA 2025-2029 Strategic Plan establishes an athlete-centered policy and it’s great for all the athletes of the world.

"To be sure that our voices are being heard in the development of the new 2027 World Anti-Doping Code is really great.

"Also, it allows us to be updated of all the technological development in anti-doping with AI and the intelligence and investigation advances inside the Anti-doping community."
