Judges Committee congregates for latest meeting

The meeting was held at the ISSF HQ.

The International Shooting Sport Federation Judges Committee have held their latest meeting at our Headquarters to confirm the latest decisions made by the group.

Over the two days in Munich, Germany, the group reviewed rules and regulations; but first received an update from ISSF Sport Director, Peter Underhill.

Underhill discussed topics regarding potential new event formats, equipment control and sport presentation initiatives that might impact on ISSF rules and their application to judges and referees.

With that in mind, the ISSF Judges Committee, chaired by Ghislaine Briez, confirmed new ISSF Judges B licenses and upgrades to all A licenses in all disciplines. New referee and Electronic Scoring Target licenses were confirmed too. There were also updates made to Judges and Shotgun Referees annexes in the rule book, and the next ISSF Shotgun Instructors Course has also been arranged for October.

It reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality, recommending that a minimum of one nomination for international jury appointments and a minimum of 30% of nominations for judge training courses be reserved for women. The development of a potential rating system for jury members based on their course engagement, was discussed.

They also reviewed reports for 2024 judges and referees course support, the policy for national-level courses and the support provided by the ISSF and arrangements for the 22 judges and referees courses currently scheduled for 2025 and 2026. New course material procedures for ISSF instructors have been arranged too.

A new emphasis was placed on supporting National Federations with course materials and instructor guidance, helping them establish strong national-level training frameworks, which in turn will feed into higher-quality candidates for international licensing.

Jury appointments for 2025 ISSF events were confirmed, as were the procedures for 2026 jury appointments and timelines for National Federation deadlines to nominate candidates. A new procedure was reviewed and formulated for Technical Delegate post-event reports too via an online system.
