The first ISSF World Cup is set to take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, signalling the start of the 2025 season for many athletes.
A total of 45 National Federations are on the entry list, with 410 athletes set to compete in rifle, pistol and shotgun.
Action takes place at the Tiro Federal Argentino de Buenos Aires shooting range, across 15 events.
Five of the individual Olympic gold medallists from Paris 2024 are due to compete. These are Chinese duo, Sheng Lihao and Xie Yu, Switzerland's Chiara Leone, Adriana Ruano from Guatemala and Francisca Crovetto of Chile.
Double Olympic champion Sheng returns in his preferred 10m distance and should expect challenges from Hungarian Istvan Peni and India's Arjun Babuta will be amongst the favourites.
Swiss shooter Audrey Gogniat, who took bronze at the Games in the women's 10m air rifle, will be in contention for the medals alongside her teammate Chiara Leone. China's best hope in the event could be Han Jiayu, while Alexandra Le will be seeking glory for Kazakhstan.
However, Leone's speciality will likely be the women's 50m rifle 3 positions, the event in which she won the Olympic title last year. Nina Christen, also an Olympic champion from Switzerland, will fancy her chances too.
All of the men's 10m pistol Olympic podium return for the World Cup opener - Xie Yu and Italians Federico Nilo Maldini and Paolo Monna. Other major names include German Christian Reitz, Damir Mikec of Serbia and Nikita Chiryukin from Kazakhstan.
Latin America is well-represented in the form of Ruano and Crovetto, who respectively won gold medals in Chateauroux in the women's trap and skeet. Both will be among the favourites in their events. Fellow trap medallists Silvana Stanco from Italy and Australia's Penny Smith will also expect to make the final in Argentina. An American contingent of Samantha Simonton, Dania Jo Vizzi and Kimberly Rhode will be hoping for skeet success too.
India's best medal hope sits with Manu Bhaker, who will compete in the women's 10m air pistol and 25m pistol, as well as the mixed team event. Germany's Doreen Vennekamp and Veronika Major of Hungary will expect to go well in the longer distance. Major will have an opportunity in the 10m distance too, with other contenders including Chinese athletes Li Xue and Jiang Ranxin as well as Serbian world record holder Zorana Arunovic.
Men's skeet contenders include India's Anant Naruka, Italy's Gabriele Rossetti and Olympic bronze medallist Lee Meng-Yuan from Chinese Taipei. Australian James Willett, Croatia's Giovanni Cernogoraz and Olympic bronze medallist Jean Brol Cardenas from Guatemala are some of the notable names in the men's trap.
Hosts Argentina has a total of 38 athletes and the best opportunity for a medal may come from Federico Gil in the men's skeet. The Pan American Games silver medallist finished second at the Baku ISSF World Cup last year. Gil has won World Cup four medals - all silvers - in the past five years. It has been eight years since his sole World Cup victory to date, when he claimed gold in Larnaka.
India has the largest delegation in Buenos Aires, with a colossal 43 athletes, closely followed by China with 39. After Argentina, Kazakhstan brings a squad of 29 athletes.
